Redwood Skate Buffet

This piece began its life as a skateboard ramp at the “Turtle Church” in Sonoma, where hundreds of riders carved their lines over the years. The stack of slabs available there weathered decades, much like the trees that once stood across Sonoma County.

The use furthere4d the redwood’s decline with splits and holes deepend  The artist craftily placed steel and copper to balance the damage and applied two coats of tung oil. The French laundry basket hangs underneath with support spars of steel and chicken harvesting hooks.

Weighing 108  pounds, the work transported easily. It is truly one of a kind—there is no other skate piece like it.
