Spinning Bookfold Maple Flyer

This crazy piece was fostered by the recollection of a poster from the 1930 World’s Fair at Treasure Island in San Francisco. The pictures were of flying bicycles, unicycles and carriges of all kinds…floating in the air with ease and grace.

The two 8’ bookfold parts were found in Guerneville CA in 2017. It is maple at its finest with waterfall cross striations and very busy grain wandering with reflections coming from deep in the wood. It resembles and bench, a plane and a toy. Made from steel, and wood
